The man behind the camera and one of our original Friends of Life, Lynden Foss, has once again beautifully captured another stunning space but, this time, it's his very own studio in Byron Bay!
Featuring some of our core Life products as well as some gorgeous pieces from our brand partner, Sarah Ellison, Lynden has put together a studio full of texture and carefully chosen pieces that reflect his peaceful and laid back surroundings.
We chat to Lynden about his style inspiration and favourite pieces in his brand new space...
What was the style concept you were aiming for when designing your new studio?
I really wanted to create a calm space that was both inspiring and functional. It had to be a space that worked well as a studio but could also have a homely soft feel with a selection of beautiful curated pieces to soften the hard industrial finishes and architecture. Lucky for me I have an amazing wife that helped put it all together and with the guidance of my work wife (Tahnee) it really feels like its come together in the last few weeks. STOKED. Tess is a little jealous that the space looks a little nicer than our home but I guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles….
What is your favourite Life Interiors piece you chose for the space and why?
I love the boucle dining chairs, they really offer a soft finish on a hard industrial style frame. This was a crucial detail that made the space come together by tying in both soft finishings and hard elements that were already present in the space. In saying that, I am also obsessed with the oversized mirror in the corner of the room that opens up the space like a portal into the next dimension.. Wild!
We love your wife’s company, Birdie & Me, and its family values, can you tell us a bit about it and what it means to you both?
Birdie and me really came about when my wife, Tess, fell pregnant. We realised that there wasn't a great option for a curated, one stop shop for essentials that both new Mum and Bub need when entering this new chapter of life. We really wanted to try and offer quality pieces that will stand the test of time and might also make life that little bit easier when it all seems a little overwhelming. It's definitely a proud moment seeing Tess envisage, create and grow her own business into what it has become today.
You’ve now been our photographer for 7 years! What has been your favourite Life Interiors collection/ styled space so far any why?
7 years! Jeebus. Feels like just yesterday we starting working with Life. It's been an amazing experience growing with the business and the seeing evolution of both imagery and product get better and better as the years have gone on. Heres to another 20 years...and beyond!!!!
There are so many different spaces that we have shot over the years but one always comes to mind from way back in Melbourne where we were able to shoot some sets from quite a distance. This is a rare opportunity when shooting interior sets and allows for interesting scale, proportional trickery and angles. I am probably the only person who remembers that one but it's one that stuck with me.
Apart from that, I would have to say each campaign we do shoot gets better each time and the latest was no different. The Abode II shoot has a scene that I was able to back light and have a play with some lighting options that I can't normally do which created a more moody sophisticated look that I really enjoyed creating.
The other half of the dynamic Citizens of Style duo, Lynden has been instrumental in bringing our pieces and spaces to life these past 7 years and we can't thank him enough for it.
We love the fact that he has surrounded himself in his creative space with some of our much loved pieces, including our Blake Boucle Dining Chairs and Monet Boucle Armchair.
