Spare bedrooms can quickly become a junk room in any home, so what can you do to make them both functional and stylish?
We see first hand how to create the perfect guest bedroom/ chill out space from Holly and Jimmy, who have created a space full of versatile pieces and stunning homewares, including our Ipanema Sideboard and Middle of Nowhere mirrors!
We chat to Holly about how her and Jimmy have styled their beautiful home together and she gives us some insight into her creative process...
How would you describe your personal interior style?
I’d say the best way to describe our interior style is transitional meets coastal meets Scandinavian.
Having moved in together we had to transition our two styles - Jimmy being the ultimate bachelor with black sheets & motorbikes in the living room (safe to say these both didn’t make it to the new place), whilst I have always loved a natural, tonal colour palette with homely universal finishes.
Our place has been furnished with a majority of my style (sorry Jimmy) - it’s light and bright to match the coastal aspect, living in Sydney’s Bondi. We have incorporated contrasting black steel, lots of living greenery, light timber and Italian Carrara pieces to serve as functional, timeless pieces in our cozy home.
We love the pieces you chose for your guest bedroom refresh! Which would you say is your favourite and why?
Our guest bedroom has come together so beautifully. I absolutely love our Life Interiors mirrors - the Bjorn Arch Mirror & Pebble Mirror are so functional & completely transform the small space. They are modern featuring striking shapes & lines and they have to be my favourite pieces in the room.
I chose the mirrors and sideboard with the powder coated black metal as our home has hints of statement black throughout, it all works together so nicely. The pieces are even more beautiful in person.
You both create such stunning content for some amazing brands, how do you start your creative process?
Our number one rule when entering this crazy world post reality TV was to remain true to who we are. When it comes to brands, we work with brands that align with us that we genuinely love which makes the creative process so much more authentic, easy and fun!
Holistically, when it comes to the creative process - it really depends on the brand. With travel & lifestyle content we tend to let our relationship dynamic shine through, we pay each other out a lot, so this tends to come out. Jimmy loves his DIY around the home & in the garage and I love my fashion & styling so we put a lot of energy into highlighting the usability or nature of the product at hand. Understanding the brand is always at the very core of the creative process.
The selection I made for our guest room refresh from Life Interiors was exactly how I saw it online (if not better), it made the whole transformation so easy to feature.
If you could pick one other Life Interiors piece from our collection, what would you choose?
Gosh, there are so many. We are working with such a small home to style, but if I could I would’ve chosen so many cozy, incredible living room pieces. If I had to pick one… I’ve had my eye on this guy for a long while, one day!!
